The explosion of the iPhone over the past 3 years has introduced a new set of tools for the online marketer. Apple’s app store is full of applications that can make it easier to promote our businesses online. Whether you are a professional Internet Marketer, a business owner who decided to spear head his company’s online marketing, or an employee whose boss said, “go figure out what we are supposed to do on that Twitter thing”, the app store is full of applications that will make your life easier.

Tweet Deck – The Tweet Deck iphone app makes it easy to be an active member of both Twitter and Facebook (the iPhone version doesn’t include Linkedin). Tweet Deck for the iPhone makes it possible for us to maximize the down time in our days. How many times do you find yourself waiting in line at the grocery store, waiting to see a customer, or waiting for a doctors appointment? Instead of reading a 6 month old copy of Good House Keeping in your Dentist’s waiting room, you could be promoting your website or building your network on Twitter and Facebook. I find myself using the mobile version more than the desktop version.

Linkedin – The Linkedin iPhone app brings the business social network to the iPhone in an easy to use interface. Update your status, search for connections, check your inbox, or if you are at a networking event, bump iPhones with a colleague and connect instantly on Linkedin. Tweet Deck for the iPhone doesn’t support Linkedin like the desktop version does. That makes the Linkedin iPhone app an essential tool for sharing content and updates across Linkedin while on the go.

Facebook – I mostly manage my Facebook account through the Tweet Deck app when I’m using my iPhone. However, there are some tasks that you will want to perform that can’t be done through Tweet Deck such as check messages, search for friends, and view notifications. Since the Facebook App is free there really is no reason not to use it.

WordPress – If you are a real Internet Marketer, then your website has a blog. One of the most widely used blogging platforms is wordpress. The WordPress app for the iPhone is some what limited by the fact that it is a blogging app on a cell phone. Even with a physical keyboard I wouldn’t want to type a blog post on my phone. Where this app shines is being able to monitor and respond to comments on the go, keeping you in touch with your readers.

*Bonus Tip – If you would like to post blogs on-the-go utilizing WordPress for the iPhone, download the app Dragon Dictation. This app allows you to speak into your iPhone and it types out your words for you. You have now successfully bypassed the drawback of posting blogs on a cell phone. Even better, this app will dictate your words and then allow you to send a text, an email, post to Twitter, or Facebook directly from the app.

Mobile RSS (Free Version) – Business online is always evolving. To be successful as an Internet Marketer you have to commit to ongoing learning. The Mobile RSS iPhone app is a Google RSS Reader for your phone. It allows you to subscribe to all of the top blogs in the industry helping to advance your thoughts and provide ideas for future blog articles.

Bam Analytics – This app isn’t free, but is essential for all Internet Marketers running Google Analytics on their site. If you are a Google Analytics user, this app is a must have. This feature-packed application allows you to check your website’s analytics on the go. Since Google Analytics uses Flash for its interface it is difficult to work with in the iPhone’s safari web browser. Bam Analytics solves this problem by providing a rich feature set that includes the ability to view over 65 Google Analytics reports, advanced segments, custom reports, functionality to view all analytics accounts within your Google Account, and the option to export reports to CSV, XML, & Email. Bam Analytics is a steal at $1.99 (similar apps cost as much as $6.99).
