Business Blogging for Leads
Are you looking to get more leads from your website? Then you need to look no further than your company blog. According to a recent study done by Internet marketing company Hubspot, 46% of companies using a blog have generated a customer from blog generated traffic.
How do Blogs Generate Leads?
Blogs have a dual benefit for your marketing campaign. First search engines love blogs. Companies that blog once per business day for an entire year will grow their website by approximately 260 web pages. That is 260 possible entry points for potential customers to find you. Google states in its webmaster guidelines that the best way to rank well is to “create a useful, information-rich site.” Blogs provide the platform to provide that useful, information-rich content.
The second benefit of a company blog is the impact on your social media marketing. Quality, unique content is the backbone of a successful social media campaign. Companies that blast their followers with a constant stream of marketing messages across all their social networks are companies that will fail in social media. If your company has a blog, then you can set up your Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin accounts to automatically post your blog articles. That means every time your company writes a new blog post it gets instantly sent out to all of your social networks for your followers to read.
How Often Should I Post?
According to the same study done by Hubspot there is a direct correlation between blog post frequency and the chance that a company has acquired a customer through that channel. 100% of companies that post multiple times a day have acquired a customer through that channel. 90% of companies that post once a day have acquired a customer through that channel compared to only 13% for companies that post less than once per month.
The number one excuse I hear about blogging is I don’t have time. This excuse usually means one of two things:
- The company doesn’t see enough value in blogging
- The company needs to improve at time management and/or task delegation.
The evidence shows that time spent blogging will translate into dollars for your company. If you have a company with several employees, delegate the blog writing. Have each of your employees write one post a week. This should give you plenty of content to post daily or even multiple times a day. If you are running a one person business, then consider starting your day a half hour early. Write your blog post first thing in the morning so it is done and you can get on with your day. If that doesn’t work for you, then consider outsourcing your blogs to an experienced copywriter.
It really doesn’t matter how your posts get written, as long as they provide value to your readers and are posted frequently.
