Your Website: A Neglected Employee – Part 3: Measuring Your Websites Performance – Google Analytics

Before you make the decision to change your sales or marketing plan, or any business plan for that matter, it’s important to know where you stand.  What are your current results?  Is your employee / website doing what you expected?  Are you getting the results you desire?  If the answer is “no,” or  “I don’t know,” then you need to figure out what to do to make a change.

The first step in any Internet Marketing process is to establish a base line.  We need to know where you currently stand to come up with a plan to get you where you want to go.  To do this, we use a client side analytics software called Google Analytics.  We install this software to the website and this allows us to track the behavior of the people coming to your site.  This software allows us to view trends in your visitors and decide what parts of the website may need some adjusting.  Some of the great information we can collect from this software includes:

  • The number of visitors to your site – Daily/Weekly/Monthly etc…
  • What pages they entered your site on
  • What pages they exited your site from
  • The search engines they used to get to your site
  • The keywords they used to get to your site

Don’t you think this information would come in handy when figuring out a plan to increase sales, traffic, and leads from your website?  This is just a small sample of the information we are able to collect from this software.  Being able to track visitor behavior gives us great insight when coming up with a customized Internet Marketing plan.

Now that we have established the current results of your employee / website, it’s time to make some necessary adjustments and create a successful Internet Marketing plan.
