Local Search Engine Optimization

When you picture a search results page there are three basic listings. At the top and right are the listings labeled sponsored links, below the sponsored links is a map with additional listings next to it (on most searches), and then the organic or free listings below. Local search listings are the listings located next to the map and need to be optimized differently than the way you optimize the organic listings.

Every business should have a local search listing for all of the major search engines.

The more times your company appears in the search results the greater the chances your listing will be clicked. The first thing most people see on a search results page is the image of the map.
